Tour de France 2024 - Prediction GC

Who will win the GC of Tour de France 2024 according to the computer? In other words: who are the main contendeers for the yellow jersey? The long awaited question was whether both Vingegaard and Pogacar would compete for overall victory again. And yes: Vingegaard is here. It remains to be seen at which level he will come to Florence after his severe crash in Ituzulia Basque Country where he suffered several broken ribs, fractured collarbone and a collapsed lung. Since the beginning of May he started training again, so it will be close for the Dane who won defeated his Slovenian rival in the past two Tour de France editions. But if someone is able to do it... 

In the meanwhile Pogacar had a flawless preparation with a dominant Giro d'Italia victory. Combining Giro and Tour is not obious, the last rider who won both GCs in a single season was Marco Pantani in 1998. Afterwards Dumoulin (2nd and 2nd) and Froome (1st and 3rd) came close in 2018. With his teammates Adam Yates, Joao Almeida and Juan Ayuso he will have amazing support during the three weeks in Italy and France. Primoz Roglic transferred from Jumbo-Visma to BORA-hansgrohe this winter with only one goal: overall victory in Tour de France. He'll have full support of Vlasov and Hindley and showed some good shape in Critérium du Dauphiné, but will he race three weeks without any crashes of setbacks? 

Remco Evenepoel suffered a fractured collabrone at the same crash of Vingegaard and did not have an ideal preparation. In Critérium du Dauphiné he showed there was some progress to be made on the climbs. In the Individual Time Trial he showed impressive skills. Remco will make his debut in this year's Tour de France and is a little behind the other three main contdenders given their experience in 'la Grande Boucle'.
